Hence, from the point of view of applications, it is possible to produce various polyurethanes, which properties can be easily modified by varying structures of soft and hard segments . The nature of polyurethanes chemistry is the central point for understanding why some polyurethanes are non-degradable and other undergo fast degradation. They can be thermosetting or thermoplastic, rigid and hard or flexible and soft. TPU provides a large number of physical and chemical property combinations for the most demanding applications such as automotive, wires and cables, breathable films for leisure, sports and textile coatings, weatherable, non-yellowing films etc. Given this, polyurethane resins are having an impact now in processes and applications previously dominated by polyesters, vinyl esters and epoxies, while polyurethane foams are seeing use in new fiber-reinforced core materials.
